What Fox & Egg does:

Fox & Egg doesn’t teach design or engineering itself but rather the process of how to properly develop a product people will love (to pay for) in the fastest, safest way — with the least amount of risk.

Services provided come in three flavors:

Advisory: You receive advice and guidance that you can put in to practice while receiving support and reviews of that work.

Coaching: A coaching track will be customized for your needs, after which your are guided through it by means of workshops, tools and templates while receiving continuous support during that period.

Consulting: You get a fractional CTO/CPO/Product Manager as part of your team for a limited period of time until your team is up and running.

Product Strategy

  • Discovering the right niche to begin your product journey and defining your unique value proposition.

  • Proving problem-solution fit: building evidence that your idea caters to a problem worth solving.

Proving willingness-to-pay: evidence for financial market traction or simply put: that potential customers are willing to pay for your product.

  • Helping you define what your Minimum Viable Product (MVP) should and shouldn’t do and what features to place further down the roadmap to enable multi-generational development.

  • Defining what works for you, your product and your business. Be it PaaS, direct, subscription, built-in rebate with interest or something else.

Define the right value based pricing, don't leave money on the table when it comes to hardware.

Development Tactics

  • Creating a development plan on what to prioritize and how to structure development aligned with your targets in terms of timing and budget.

Learning efficient program & project management and creating a realistic planning for consumer hardware.

  • Creating requirement documents and test plans that work. Reduce technical, product and process risks early on by properly managing them and implementing recurring processes.

  • Building an accurate prediction of P&L (Profit & Loss) using financial metrics unique to consumer hardware.

Optimizing for BOM (Bill of Material) Cost and CAPEX (Capital Expenditure) required to manufacture your product.

  • Comprehend the certification landscape and employ winning strategies for achieving certification (limited to CE marking in the EU) and properly verifying the functional requirements of your product.

Fox & Egg doesn’t do…

  • Neither hardware, firmware or software related. Make sure you have these on your team or work with trusted freelancers for highly specialized functionalities.

  • Neither investing in hardware nor teaching you how to fundraise or pitch

  • The Product Strategy counsel will have some overlap with these fields but they are not a seperate focus or service.

  • We don’t engage in advice on structuring or staffing your company. There are loads of great sources online on this topic.

  • While Fox & Egg can refer you to trusted manufacturing partners and get you started in this area, procurement and supply chain management is a field of it’s own and something you need to do (and learn) yourself, hands on.

  • Fox & Egg is not a factory but we know the landscape and give you boost in the right direction if you want.

  • Yes, this one’s in both columns. Because while Fox & Egg can counsel on the process surrounding verification and certification, it needs to be executed by you, a lab or an assembly partner.

…but we know a guy.
